Abstract

The paper presents the results of theoretical research on determining the need for ground combat vehicles of the Army units. The nature of modern armed struggle is analyzed. The necessity of finding ways to reduce personnel losses and the relevance of the development of ground combat vehicles are substantiated. A comparative analysis of the state of development of ground combat vehicles in the leading countries of the world and in Ukraine is carried out. Based on the results of the comparative analysis, the problematic issues that hinder the development and supply of ground combat vehicles for the needs of the Army are identified. One of the most important problematic issues is the insufficient effectiveness of military scientific research to determine the need for ground combat vehicles. The factors that influence the process of determining the need for ground combat vehicles for the Army units are determined. The article proposes a scientific and methodological apparatus that takes into account the experience of combat use of the Army units, conditions, nature of tasks, the level of development of robotics technologies and allows determining the list of tasks for which it is advisable to use ground combat vehicles and the needs of the Army units. Taking into account the experience of combat use of the Army units in the Russian-Ukrainian war, the main tasks for which it is advisable to use ground combat vehicles are identified. The expediency of using the JCATS simulation system for modeling typical situations of use of ground combat vehicles is substantiated. The criterion for the efficiency of performing the tasks assigned to ground combat vehicles is the minimum losses, provided that the tasks are completed. Using the proposed scientific and methodological apparatus, samples were identified whose effectiveness met the adopted criterion. Taking into account the obtained results, proposals for the organizational structure of an experimental combat unit as part of a separate mechanized (motorized infantry) brigade are substantiated for further testing in combat conditions.
