This article analyzes the specifics of using foreign-made small arms in direct fire contact in urbanized areas, considering the combat experience of the Russian-Ukrainian war. This will subsequently enable a substantiated analysis and targeted selection of small arms models available on the modern arms market, tailored for specific combat conditions faced by assault units of the Defense Forces. The research results confirm the correlation between the effectiveness of combat use of small arms models and the corresponding conditions of modern small arms combat. The article primarily focuses on outlining organizational and methodological approaches to organizing shooter training. It highlights the relevance of combined use of various small arms models to increase the effectiveness of engaging enemy forces as part of small tactical groups and the modernization of existing weapon models in accordance with NATO standards. It is substantiated that the use of the latest small arms models contributes to improving the combat readiness of assault units and the effectiveness of their actions during complex fire missions, both in open and urbanized areas. The results of the conducted research determine that the training of military personnel for small arms combat using modern small arms systems is influenced by a combination of internal and external factors. These factors have changed under the influence of the peculiarities of combat operations during the Russian-Ukrainian war and require further in-depth study. Promising main directions for further research include methods for modernizing existing small arms models, updating the arsenal of individual small arms with specialized selection for specific (point) fire missions of individual assault units, reconnaissance units, and special operations forces.
